Requirements for Color Masterbatch

The color masterbatch must pay attention to the matching relationship between the color masterbatch, plastic raw materials and additives.

(1) Pigment can't react with resin and all kinds of auxiliaries. It has strong solvent resistance, small migration and good heat resistance. In other words, masterbatch can not participate in all kinds of chemical reactions. For example, carbon black can control the curing reaction of polyester plastics, so carbon black material cannot be added to polyester.

Due to the high processing temperature of plastic products, the color should not decompose and change color under the condition of heating temperature. In general, inorganic pigments have better heat resistance, while organic pigments and dyes have poor heat resistance, which should be paid enough attention to when choosing the color materials.

(2) The dispersibility and coloring stress of pigment should be good. When the pigment is not evenly distributed, it will affect the appearance performance of products; when the pigment is poor, it will increase the amount of pigment and material cost. The dispersibility and coloring power of the same pigment in different resins are not the same, so this should be paid attention to when choosing the pigment.

The particle size of pigment is also related to its dispersion. The smaller the particle size of pigment, the better the dispersion and the stronger the coloring power.

(3) It is necessary to know other properties of color, for example, for plastic products used in food and children's toys, the color should be non-toxic; for plastic products used in electrical appliances, the color with good electrical insulation should be selected; for outdoor plastic products, the color with good weather aging resistance should be selected.
